The Bottom Line: Do not buy! The ink / calibration situation is a complete hastle.
We got this printer for a discount price when we bought our computer. With ink being cheap, it seemed like a great printer for the average user. It worked great for the first 4 months...and then it went downhill fast. Every time I replaced an ink cartridge, it had to re-calibrate itself, which is no big deal. BUT, the problem is that it used ~25% of the new ink cartridge for the calibration. This becomes a big problem when you replace the black (only) cartridge and it has to calibrate the black AND the color! What a waste! Plus, if the color cartridge is empty, it WILL NOT let you print in black and white (only).
At the present moment (less than one year old), it will not print in color at all (even with a brand new cartridge)! I've tried cleaning the print head (manually and self cleaning) and it still won't print color. In addition, it fails to complete the calibration and gives me an error message, "unplug printer, wait 5 seconds, plug printer back in, and re-calibrate". It is now in a vicious cycle of failing to calibrate - unplug - failing to calibrate - unplug - etc. It WILL NOT print anything without completing the calibration!
When the printer does work, it is VERY LOUD!
It is currently in the trash can!
