The Bottom Line: If you like Bleach, want to swing your wiimote like a sword, and enjoy playing with friends, this game might just be for you!
Bleach is a Japanese anime/manga that has recently made its debut in the U.S. on the adult swim section of Cartoon Network. Featuring the high school student Ichigo Kurosaki who discovers the hidden world of the Shinigami (soul reapers) and fights to save his friends and family.
In Bleach, these Shinigami wield Zonpaktou (swords with spiritual abilities) to defeat their foes. In Shattered Blade, you arm yourself with your wii-mote as your sword and swing or stab it to strike at your foes, or as a bow, fist, or other alternatives that special characters provide.
Controls are solid. Move with the nunchuck and you are given relative free roam over the battle area (You are very limited on travel range from your opponent, though) while you slash with you sword or other weapon, stab for a stab attack, horizontal, vertical, etc. You are able to do slower critical attacks by holding down A, Spiritual abilities by holding down B, and travel faster by holding "c".
By either battling or shaking your nunchuck you will fill your bonkai meter and by shaking the nunchuck one more time you will enter a special state with a whole new slew of moves available including huge scale summons and legendary finishers.
While the story line is a little weak, you will still have fun all the same mastering your battle techniques against your opponent. If you were looking for a hack and slash game with vs. options, this is it.
There is over 32 characters for this game from the series, all of them with relatively unique fighting styles and abilities leading to hours upon hours of fun mastering all the different styles out there.
I was expecting much less from this game, because, well its an anime game, and we all know how those can end up - rushed, simple, and over within an hour or two. But this game will not disappoint for those who love the show, and will never falter, as THIS GAME INCLUDES CHARACTERS FROM THE NEXT 100 EPISODES!!! The game is ahead of the series even in Japan and you will never feel its fallen behind in the next year or so. Don't bother waiting for a sequel on this one, get it today Bleach fans!
Note for parents: This game does not feature any blood or "true" death as far as I am aware even with all the hacking and slashing. The occasional "Now you die" or "Damn" is as bad as this game gets.
