PowerShot S100 (also known as Digital ELPH) features an elegant, stainless steel (SUS316) body equipped with a number of advanced camera features, including 35-70mm (35mm equivalent) f/2.8-4.0 all-glass aspherical lens to help minimize image distortion. A 4x digital converter extends the zoom range of the lens to 8x when used in conjunction with its 2x optical zoom capabilities. In addition, the camera is equipped with a three-point AiAF autofocus system that permits the camera to automatically select the primary subject, even if the subject is off-center. To further simplify overall operation, the Digital ELPH displays most camera settings on the LCD monitor. Pros: an little engineering marvel
Cons: you must learn how to use it

I edit a couple of newsletters and do a lot of other desktop publishing. I needed a digital camera and I wanted one that was small enough to carry around in my pocket. I hate lugging a huge conspicuous camera around when I am trying to take pictures...

Pros: Compact and very durable. Quality of pictures are pretty good. Nice screen to view pictures.
Cons: Had to upgrade after I bought it. No protective case provided.
The Bottom Line: Great camera for a first time user. I figured out how to use it without the manual. This camera would probably last a while. Picture quality is pretty good.
